SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A leading professional publication has ranked Spokane Valley attorney Hector E. Quiroga, Sr. as among the top 2.5 percent of young attorneys in Washington State.
Quiroga was named a “Rising Star” by the magazine Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters publication, whose rating service designates the most outstanding attorneys in the United States and United Kingdom. Attorneys under 40 or in practice for fewer than 10 years may qualify as Rising Stars.
The selection makes Quiroga the only eastern Washington immigration attorney and the only immigration lawyer from Spokane Valley on the Super Lawyers list.
In just 15 years, Quiroga has graduated with honors from Gonzaga University’s undergraduate and law programs; served as a law clerk for the Honorable Chief Judge Robert H. Whaley for the Eastern District of Washington Federal Court; worked at the Washington Attorney General’s Office and the state Department of Labor and Industries; and started the Quiroga Law Office, PLLC, with his wife, Casey, also an attorney.
The final published lists, intended as a resource for clients and other attorneys, comprise only lawyers in more than 70 practice areas eligible for hire by the public—those in private practice and Legal Aid attorneys.
The lists appear annually in state and regional editions of Super Lawyers Magazines and in inserts and special advertising sections in leading city and regional magazines and newspapers. All attorneys selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers, regardless of year, can be found on SuperLawyers.com.
Priscilla Herchold is an outstanding associate attorney who cares a lot about her clients and gives 110% effort into each and every day. Priscilla joined our team June 15, 2015, and loves her career here at Quiroga Law Office, PLLC. Priscilla feels that the team has a good atmosphere with a staff who carry on good humor in the office and knows it is important to have fun, yet the team knows it is pertinent to maintain a serious and committed mind to every case and client.
Priscilla is a very inquisitive person who truly wanted to do something great. Once she found her inspiration to pursue law during her last semester in college while pursuing an arts degree, she couldn’t shake the idea of helping people. Priscilla says, “I was inspired to pursue law because of my sister and brother-in-law. They were graduates of the Gonzaga law school here in Spokane, Washington.” At Quiroga Law Office, PLLC, Priscilla is responsible for handling family law, bankruptcy, immigration, and personal injury cases.
Priscilla’s goal as an attorney is to help people during a complex situation, to help break it down to become a simpler matter, and to achieve the desired result. Priscilla’s motto is that “nothing is impossible.” She loves when a client places trust in the office, because being able to help people get closure during a tough situation is very rewarding.
Quiroga Law Office, PLLC has a rising star! Its very own Kristen Cusick, also known as Misty Cusick, has landed the amazing role as Mrs. Potts in the musical, Beauty and the Beast, in both Act I and Act II. The musical is being performed at the Spokane Civic Theatre, located at 1020 North Howard Street, Spokane, WA 99201 from September 9, 2016, to October 9, 2016. The Spokane Civic Theatre will be playing Beauty & the Beast as the opener for their 70th anniversary gala.
Kristen has been singing and performing since she was very young. Though she started her college career in music, she was very passionate about helping people and pursued her career as an attorney because she felt great joy in helping improve the lives of others. She always maintained performing as a focal part of her life, however, and was happy to join the Spokane Civic Theatre.
Although Kristen felt hopeful that she would get a part in the musical, her feelings were pure apprehensiveness and excitement when she found out she got the roll of Mrs. Potts. This was one of the main roles she was hoping for!
The office has been booming and just over the past year, the staff has almost tripled after moving to their new location at 505 North Argonne Road, Suite 109-B in Spokane Valley. Quiroga Law Office, PLLC, is winning more and more cases each month and was in need of more help around the office.
Introducing newly hired Jennyfer Lopez and Marie Sorensen, two women eager to learn and help around the office.
Jennyfer’s first day on the job was August 8th, 2016, and her role is an administrative assistant. Jennyfer is in charge of organizing and filing the correspondence, mail, and other paperwork that gets filtered into the office from both the staff and clients. She also occasionally fills in for Amy Gilliam at the front desk. Jennyfer Lopez has Hispanic heritage and is fluent in both English and Spanish, which is ideal since Quiroga Law Office PLLC is both an English and Spanish speaking law firm. In addition to being bilingual, Jennyfer has four years of experience as the manager of her family’s business with Imelda, of which she helped delegate new clients and scheduled appointments.
SPOKANE VALLEY, WA—To accommodate an expanding practice, The Quiroga Law Office, PLLC moved to a new, larger location May 1, 2015 — expanding from its current two-room suite to one with seven offices.
The move sends husband-and-wife partners Casey and Hector E. Quiroga Sr. next door in the building where they’ve practiced law for six years with the help of a paralegal, and a legal assistant. In the last six months, however, the firm has nearly doubled in size, adding a legal receptionist, a bilingual assistant, a senior paralegal, and a contract attorney.
Hector and Casey Quiroga state this move really allows the firm to better serve their clients. They are excited to see clients supporting them and even helping them move.
This is the time to stop and reflect over all the wonderful opportunities and blessings bestowed upon us. We would also like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to be there in those moments when you have needed our help. We also like to thank you for thinking of our office when a family member or a friend needed to consult and seek our advice. We put together (with a little help of some people with some serious computer skills) a little video card. We hope you enjoy it.
Recorded Statements are almost always required by an insurance company when there is an auto collision. Adjusters will contact you after you file a claim and tell you they need to take the statement. It is very much standard practice and there seems no way to object or to decline taking a recorded interview. The issue with this of course is that no many people like to be recorded in a conversation. Adjusters and insurance company attorneys can and will use the statement against you. They will tell you that you have said this and that, in a recording, to simply devalue your claim or deny coverage.
Most out policies do require cooperation with the insurance company, but they do not require you to be recorded while talking to them. You want to cooperate with them, of course, but agreeing to be recorded is not a requirement.
Termination of child support after age 18 can be a nebulous affair in Washington State.
Typically, 18 years is a milestone signifying the end of childhood. With adulthood come responsibilities including, one presumes, providing financially for oneself. For that reason, Termination of Support orders filed with a couple’s divorce decree usually set the child’s 18th birthday as the date support payments will end.
Case law, too, provides for extended support in certain circumstances, giving the courts the power to declare a child to be still a “dependent” at 18 and therefore entitled to support. Since the courts define “dependent” as someone who looks to another person for primary support, most 18-year-olds probably would qualify.
On the other hand, child support may end before the dependent turns 18. If the child emancipates himself from the parent providing the support, the parent’s payments for that child will end. The same applies if the child marries, or goes to work full-time and supports herself with the income.
Most people are surprised to know that here in Washington once you’re in a vehicle accident insurance companies only require to you to give you three days of rental once a vehicle is declared a total loss. That’s it, three days by statute so, even if you have full coverage and you have a rental coverage specifically purchased in your policy the insurance covering is going to be able to say, “Hey, we deem the car a, a total loss, and therefore you have three days to get out of the car”. Then start paying out of pocket.
Well, as you and I know, three days is not necessarily the right amount of time to go shopping for an auto vehicle, to go find a, a suitable replacement.
It is three days from the date that they tell you that the vehicle is a total loss. Now, in some cases, the vehicle is obviously a total loss. Um, they just look at it and the vehicle is basically burned to the ground.
If you have any questions on your total loss process, or you have any questions about a personal injury claim, I’ll be glad to help you here in Spokane, Washington. You can reach me at Quiroga Law Office, PLLC at 509-927-3840.
